Shades of blue promote serenity, calmness and relaxation. Reminiscent of the open sky and the vast oceans, blue has a way of making us feel safe and secure. Lighter shades are perfect for subtle effects, whilst stronger blues may be too energetic to suit a bedroom – sky blue is often the perfect middle ground. According to some studies, sleeping in a blue room results in the best sleep.
The receptors in our eyes are particularly sensitive to the colour blue, and being surrounded by this colour has also been shown to reduce blood pressure and anxiety, making it an excellent choice for a bedroom.
